Meta Studios ("we," "our," or "us") built MacLift as a utility app. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use MacLift for iOS and macOS.
Information We Do Not Collect
MacLift is designed with privacy at its core. We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. Specifically:
- No personal information (name, email, phone number)
- No usage analytics or tracking
- No advertising identifiers
- No location data
- No cookies or web tracking
- No third-party analytics SDKs
Local Network Communication
MacLift communicates between your iPhone and Mac exclusively over your local Wi-Fi network using Bonjour/TCP. All data stays on your local network and never passes through any external server. The types of data exchanged locally include:
- App names and icons from your Mac (for display on iPhone)
- Control commands (launch, minimize, quit apps)
- Clipboard content (only when you explicitly trigger sync)
- A numeric pairing PIN (generated locally, never transmitted externally)
App Status Check
MacLift performs a single HTTPS request on launch to maclift.app/api/status.json to check for version compatibility. This request does not transmit any personal data, device identifiers, or usage information. It only retrieves a small JSON configuration file.
Clipboard Access
MacLift accesses your clipboard only when you explicitly tap the "Push to Mac" or "Pull from Mac" buttons. Clipboard content is transferred directly between your devices over local Wi-Fi and is never stored, logged, or sent to any external service.
Screenshots
The screenshot feature uses macOS's built-in screencapture tool. Screenshots are saved directly to your Mac's Desktop. They are never uploaded or transmitted externally.
Data Storage
MacLift stores minimal settings locally on each device using standard system storage (UserDefaults and disk cache). This includes your app selection preferences, cached app icons, and grid layout settings. This data never leaves your device.
Third-Party Services
MacLift does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. We do not use Firebase, Google Analytics, Facebook SDK, or any similar tools within the app.
Children's Privacy
MacLift does not collect any data and is safe for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
